Daniel Ek, CEO and founder of Spotify, on Thursday, tweeted the new feature called “Your Offline Mix” – a playlist designed for those times when you might not be online. The feature looks similar to YouTube’s “Offline Mixtape” feature that allows users to download songs. Coming to Spotify, the new feature will automatically download users’ recently played songs and compile them into a playlist. The moment it finds that the user has a weak internet connection, it will play “Your Offline Mix”. This feature is particularly useful for avid Spotify users who travel or shuttle regularly and face limited connectivity while traveling. Further, the screenshot shared by Elk on Twitter shows an approximate three and a half hours runtime for the offline playlist, which the text describes as “a mix of your recently played songs for when the vibe is high, but your connection is low.”

However, Spotify users have to manually pick and download playlists or albums, which can be an annoying process for those who like to listen to different genres of music. On the other hand, ‘Your Offline Mix’ automatically downloads the recently played songs and compiles them into a playlist for offline access, saving time for the user. While the Spotify CEO revealed that the company is testing ‘Your Online Mix’, he did not share any significant details about the feature or its functionality.
